Invisible Fence Installation
How and where your Invisible Fence is installed
The installation of an Invisible Fence is not a complicated affair in most cases. Normally, a narrow trench is dug along the property line or whereever the fence is supposed to go for burying the hidden wire. In our case, though, there was going to be minimal digging since the hidden fence wire was going to be strung along the existing wooden fence. The only trench that needed to be dug was from the garage to the side of the fence, since the door to our backyard was right next to the garage.
Whenever there's digging to be done, however, it's essential to locate power lines and other underground pipes and wires before the digging happens. Even though we wanted the Invisible Fence installed right away, we had to wait for the local utilities to come out and mark our property.
Once the power lines were located and marked, the installation itself was very straightforward. The wire a single long loop of heavy gauge electrical cable was strung along the bottom and top of the existing fence. The control unit was mounted in our garage near an existing power receptacle. A small hole was drilled through the exterior wall of the garage so that the two ends of the wire could be pulled through and connected to the control unit. The installer then powered and configured the control unit. The Invisible Fence was now in operation. But we weren't done yet the dogs still needed their collars and training.
