Using an Electronic Pet Fence for Pet Containment

Keeping Dogs Safe and Contained with Hidden Pet Fencing

When we bought our current house, the first thing we did upon taking possession of the property was build a wooden fence around the back yard. Not to be anti-social, but to let our dogs wander free while keeping them safe and on the property. You'd think a sturdy wooden fence would do just that, but we soon learned otherwise.

A hidden fence helps keep your pets safe and contained

This is the story of why we ended up installing an Invisible Fence® brand pet containment system. (Other brands include Petsafe Instant Fence and Innotek In-Ground Fence.) The electronic fence was installed in addition to our wooden fence in order to truly keep our dogs safe.

The Invisible Fence brand system and other hidden fence systems like it aren't for everyone. Most people install hidden fencing to avoid having to install a regular fence. But the combination of a visible and a hidden fence might just be the best solution for keeping your pets safe on your property. A sad note: Taffy, one of the stars of this site, succombed to lymphoma in October of 2006. She was only a month away from her 8th birthday and her passing was quite sudden and unexpected. We miss her dearly. Dino, who we frankly expected to die before Taffy, missed her greatly. We have a new Golden Retriever now, but we still miss Taffy.
